Automation Patrol, an app for monday.com by QQuark Apps
How to use Automation Patrol
Automation Patrol checks your monday.com account every hour for automations that failed or ran out of retries, and for outside connections that stopped working, and tells the people you choose with a monday.com bell notification.
Before you start
- A monday.com plan with automations: Standard, Pro or Enterprise. The Free and Basic plans have no automations, so there is nothing to watch.
- An account admin to install and connect the app. Members can see recent problems; viewers and guests cannot use the app.
Install
Coming soon: Automation Patrol is not in the monday.com app marketplace yet. These steps apply once it is.
- Open the monday.com app marketplace, find Automation Patrol and choose Install.
- Approve the permissions it asks for. Each one is explained in the app's privacy policy.
First-time setup (about two minutes)
- Open the app's settings: open the marketplace, choose Installed apps, then Automation Patrol, then the Settings tab. Admins can also go to Administration, Apps, Automation Patrol, Settings.
- Read the welcome step and choose Start.
- Choose Connect to monday.com and allow access. You come back to monday.com when it is done.
- Choose who gets alerts and which boards to watch. If you choose nobody, the admin who connected gets the alerts.
- Optional: turn on quiet hours, set your time zone, and pick the hour of the daily summary. Then choose Save.
What you will get
- An alert in the monday.com bell for each new problem, for example "Automation failed on Sales pipeline at step 2: a group the automation uses was deleted or renamed." It opens the board where the automation failed.
- No floods. The same problem on the same board and step is one alert. Further repeats are counted in the daily summary. A problem that comes back after a quiet day gets a new alert.
- A daily summary at the hour you chose: how many runs failed or ran out of retries, and which connections stopped working.
- The first check runs within the hour after you save and looks back one hour; older failures are not reported.
The automation inventory
The Inventory page answers: what automations and outside connections does this account rely on, who owns each, and which are at risk. The main risk: a person leaves the company, monday.com deactivates the connections and automations they created, and every automation using them stops. Automation Patrol shows which connections still depend on people who have left, so you can set them up again with an active person's account.
- Outside connections are listed with their provider, owner, state and what is at risk. A connection created by someone who has since left the account, and a connection that is not active, are both flagged.
- Automations that failed this period are listed by id with their failure count. Automation Patrol does not list automations by name yet, so it shows ids and counts only, and says so on the page.
Connection and owner names are read live from monday.com when you open the page and are never stored. On the Free plan the page shows the list; the alerts are part of the Team plan.
If something needs attention
- "Not connected": an admin chooses Connect to monday.com in the settings.
- "Cannot read automation runs": monday.com stopped allowing access; an admin reconnects.
- "Step detail not available yet": monday.com did not give the failing step this time. The alert still names the reason; the app asks again over the next hours and shows the step in its settings.
Stop using it
Uninstall the app from Administration, Apps. Everything Automation Patrol kept for your account is deleted at once.
